Lightbulb Cheap & Safe Rat Poison

I have been bursting to share this weird piece of information all day! In the last three months we've been battling rats on our property due to the bulldozing of the lot next door in preparation for development. We're the only house in the near vicinity with outdoor animals (therefore rat-accessible food), so apparently every rat from the formerly wooded lot saw a big red VACANCY! sign hanging over our front door. After trapping, murdering, and discreetly disposing of exactly 50 rats and being rat-free for the past two weeks, I learned today from a painting contractor working next-door that the best rat poison is.....Coke. According to the contractor, rats are not able to burp, so when they drink the coke, their bellies swell up and the rats die. He also recommended smearing peanut butter on a D-Con unit and setting it out in the woods next to a dish of Coke. Rats are attracted by peanut butter, eat the D-Con, drink the Coke, and obligingly expire.

Weirdly enough, this contractor learned all this in his former position as Head of Pest and Rodent Control for Food Lion! I should've tried to get him to hook us up, but we don't even have FL around here anymore -- besides, that rat poison is worth its weight in gold! Now you all know how to efficiently and cheaply kill rats (God forbid you should need to) as well as how strange my life is!
