Thumbs down CVS accuses me of coupon fraud

CVS is soooo ignorant of their own policies!!! They had a bunch of makeup and hair dye out on clearance and they were waaaaay cheap. I had a coupon for every single item I bought. Some of the makeup was like 69c and the coupons were for a dollar off. Now I KNOW I cannot get the OVERAGE, but they were trying to tell me first off that they wouldnt take the coupons at ALL, and then they were telling me that since the items were on clearance they would only take off 50% of the coupons` value!! ALL THEY HAVE TO DO if the coupon is for a dollar off but the item costs 69c, they put the coupon in the register as 69c!!! DUHHHHH!!!! They were accusing me of coupon fraud, in front of other customers, just because the value of my coupons exceeded the price of the items. I AM SO UPSET ABOUT THIS!!! I have nothing but problems with CVS and coupons. I told them I didnt want the stuff at all, and I left, and I left a message with corporate. This is ridiculous. The thing that upsets me most is that they are going to put that stuff right back in that bin, and someone else is going to buy it all before CVS corporate gives me the green light to use my coupons!!!!

you should have called CS immediately. also, call the store and ask when the main manager will be there and get his/her name so CS knows who to contact when they call the store to tell them they're wrong. what area do you live in?

Corporate is closed right now but I left a message with the district manager and I also sent CVS corporate an email asking if I could please have a black and white copy of their coupon policy so I could show it to the cashiers!

BTW I'm in Indianapolis

They won't give you a copy of their policy, but they will call the store. Hopefully you will get that cashier in trouble. They were out of line and should be retrained and kept away from customers.

Okay....So, I work for CVS & YOU CAN USE THOSE COUPONS!!!! I use them too. The register just asks the cashier to re-key the amount when this happens & all they had to do was put in the amount of the item. This is not coupon fraud! Corporate will NOT be happy about this b/c guess what??....The customer is ALWAYS right. Hope you get things straight!

That is awful. They are actually accusing of committing a crime in front of customers. I think you should stress that when you make contact with CVS. Good luck.

If any idiot cashier ever suggested that I was committing coupon fraud I would suggest that they call the police immediately. This cashier should really be let go.

Yep ~ if they are going to accuse me, in front of other customers of a crime, they better be ready to press charges. And look rediculous when the police cone and tell them that I am not breaking any law.
Crazy ~ I would definately make sure that store gets the policy straight. Good luck!!

Well I got it all taken care of!! I spoke with corporate AND the district manager, and they both assured me that they'd speak to the offending manager - the DM called him "stupid" and said he wasn't wearing his thinking cap! ! So when I go back in tomorrow, if all the stuff isn't gone, I'll be using my coupons! WOOHOO!!
