I just saw that someone has a baby with a bad diaper rash. I have a wonderful homemade diaper rash remedy for diaper rash caused by acidic poopies, like when a child is on antibiotics. I hope it can help someone. It was given to me when my children were babies and cleared up acidic diaper rashes in about 24 hours.
Mix cornstarch (like the plain kind you cook with) and Milk of Magnesia (or regular liquid Maloxx, either works) to form an almost crumbly paste. Mix the almost crumbly paste with Aquaphor or some other kind of ointment (Balmex or petro jelly maybe) until it is spreadable. Directions for use: wash baby's tooshie to make sure it is cleaned really well. Spread on tooshie as needed. I always used to gently wash DS's bottom after each poopie during this time and re apply as needed. What do the ingredients do? Cornstarch-- absorbs the liquid in the diareaha and clumps it together Milk of Magnesia/ Maloxx-- reduces the acid in the diareaha so it won't burn the bottom. The Aquaphor/ointment-- helps protect the skin and keeps the diareaha from further hurting baby's bottom. May your baby's bottom be blessed! |
