Default How to print a rebate receipt!

I asked for a rebate receipt for the Alavert and the girl had no idea how to do it and asked someone else who also did not know. She called for a manager, but I didn't want people behind me to wait so I just did a separate transaction.
TIA!

Thanks AnnetteP for simplifying this!!

How to Print a Rebate Receipt

There are (2) sets of keypads. The button is:

On the left keypad, if you're standing behind the register (you're the cashier).
On the right keypad, if you're standing in front of the register (you're the customer).

It's the middle key on the bottom row.

This procedure will print (1) rebate receipt and the step needs to be performed for every item you want on that rebate receipt. If you need multiple rebate receipts (for multiple mail in rebates), then you'll need to ring those up in a separate transaction.

1. Press "Special Receipt" button. Most registers don't even have this button labeled, so as long as you know where it's located on the keypad, it will work.

2. Scan item

3. Select option "3" when prompted. This is for the rebate receipt. (When the transaction is complete, two receipts will print.)

4. Repeat steps 1-3 for each additional item you want on that same rebate receipt.

5. Send the original receipt to Walgreens ESR and the rebate receipt to mfr. MIR. There is a note on the rebate receipt stating that it can't be submitted to ESR.

Note: When there was a B1G1 Glade promotion, even though the items were $7.99 each, the rebate receipt looked like this:
$1.00
$0.00

So, YMMV as to them working properly when there's a B1G1 sale involved.

The cashier didn't know for me either and had to call a manager. She knew how to do it.

*sigh*
My cashier called the manager. He didn't know, either.

There is some special button on the register that they have to push before they ring up the item you would like a rebate receipt for... that's all I know though.

Walgreen's registers have two keypads. There is the mai one, and then a smaller one to the left of the main one. The middle button on the bottom row of the left keypad is the "Special Receipt" button. Tell the cashier to push that button first, then scan the tem, it will ask what kind of special receipt, and give an option or two, the option you need is number 3, so have her press 3 on the regular numeric keypad. Then finish up the transaction, and make sure she hands you both receipts. I have trained several Walgreens employees on how to do this after I read it on here once!

Can we make this sticky in the Walgreens forum, maybe?

I was told long ago that WG cannot accept these rebate receipts for their Easy Saver rebates. When my rebate was denied I called CS. They said that Rebate receipt doesn't show that I've actually bought the item (no idea why), therefore not acceptable.
It might be used for any other rebate, but not for Easy Saver, or might be as a copy.

I don't think that they are submitting the rebate receipts to Walgreens, these are to be submitted for manufacturer rebates.

joshmamabear - THANKS SO MUCH FOR THE INFO!!

so the cashier must do these steps BEFORE ANY and EACH ITEM where you have BOTH walgreens & manf MIR offers ?
>YES

so if you are purchasing more than one doubleplay rebate item, you'd need separate transactions - correct ?
>NO

Hope you don't mind, i've retyped and edited the procedure in a step by step list.....makes it easier for me

1. walgreens has two registers
a. main one
b. smaller one to the left of main one
>>>middle button on bottom row of smaller left keypad is "Special Receipt" button
2. Tell the cashier to push the Special Receipt button first
3. Scan the item which you have both Walgreens & Manufacturer rebate
4. It will ask what kind of special receipt, and give an option or two
>>the option you need is number 3
5. have cashier press 3 on the regular numeric keypad
6. finish up the transaction
7. make sure cashier hands you both receipts
8. use the original CRT for the Walgreens rebate
9. use the special rebate receipt for doubleplay (manufacturer) rebate

EDITED TO ADD MORE INFO provided by joshmamabear

If you have items which are Walgreens rebate ONLY, no need for any special key sequence.

however, if items X, Y, and Z all have BOTH WG & MANF MIR, here is sequence:

1. tell the cashier ahead that you need separate rebate receipts
2. tell the cashier to push the Special Receipt button on the smaller register first
3. Scan Item X
a. when it asks what kind of special receipt have cashier press 3 on the regular numeric keypad
4. repeat step #2
5. scan Item Y
6. repeat step 3a
7. repeat step #2
8. scan Item Z
9. repeat step 3a

transaction complete you get:
1. One rebate receipt for EACH item where "Special receipt" used above (in example above, you'd have THREE)
2. One regular Walgreens receipt with all purchases itemized plus taxes, if applicable

receipt disposition:
1. Rebate receipt goes to the corresponding manufacturer
2. Original Walgreens receipt is submitted to Easy Saver
