Question What am I doing wrong?

I have tried to print coupons from coupons, inc. and a couple other sites. I am having such problems! I consider my PC to be ultra-secure. I have anti-virus software, a firewall, anti-spyware, no internet explorer installed.

I usually use Opera as my browser, but when trying to print coupons, I switch to Netscape or AOL Explorer because they are "supported" according to the directions. When I click "print", it either goes to a "please wait" screen or the bar at the bottom of the screen says "transferring data from 216.32.229.179" and goes no further.

I've tried turning off the firewall, the anti-virus, the spyware blocker, the popup blocker one at a time and even all at once. I've cleared my cache, my cookies, everything I can think of. I never even get to the screen where it's supposed to ask permission to install the software.

Sometimes, the sites offer to mail the coupons USPS and they come pretty quick, but sometimes, I get a screen where it says to click here for the troubleshooter, then the screen just lists the supported platforms, etc. Not much help there.

Anyone have any similar experiences?

A lot of the coupon printing sites use the coolsavings printer - and a lot of anti virus programs recognize this as malware. I don't have trouble with it being blocked, but this comes up a lot when I run the anti adware scans.

I don't know opera as a browser - I have no problems with IE7, and many people on this site also use firefox.

Have you tried e mailing the sites you are printing from to see if there are suggestions?

Thanks for the reply. I tried Firefox, and it seems to work. I got the window asking me to install the software and was able to print about five coupons. Looks like it was a browser problem, because I didn't turn off any off my security (firewall, anti-virus, etc.)

I want to know how safe & secure this coupon printing program really is. My husband is a software engineer (writes code), and he said that there is no reason to download a program in order to print anything. It is completely unnecessary. He said the only reason that program is there is to install spyware! Or, potentially, malware-

So, does anyone have any more knowledge on this?

They really make you install the software to set a limit on the number of coupons you can print.

Let me see if I have this straight- online printable coupons make you download software that limits how many coupons you can have, and potentially has tracking software, adware, and/or malware attached. It costs you upwards of 25 cents per page to print, in ink and paper and wear on the printer.

I fail to understand the appeal of printable coupons, then! I think I will stick to harvesting Sunday Coupon inserts at the Recycling Center!!

I don't have any problems with any of the coupon installers. The only thing that they "track" is how many times you've printed.
They limit the number of coupon inserts you get from the Sunday paper, too. It's one per paper. The only way to get around that is to get more papers, or have other people give you their coupons (whether they mean to or not ).
Same thing with the printed ones! You can print twice (sometimes more!) per computer. If you have 2 computers, you get to print more. Or you can have others print the coupons for you.
As for the cost, what the heck kind of printer are you using??? My printer doesn't cost nearly that amount to operate! I never would have bought it if did! A coupon isn't full-page hi-def printing. It's mostly black text with some color for pictures (very small). Including paper, printing for me doesn't cost more than 6 cents per coupon. (and that's using the "regular" ink cartridges, not the bulk ones)
