Default Items that scan incorrectly at Albertsons.

I am not sure if the policy of this forum allows this or not.

Albertsons has this policy of giving the item for free if it scans incorrect price.

I think we should have a thread for such items that people find.

Below is what I found in the Tulsa area.

Post raisin bran cereal bars - scanned proce 3.99 - sale price 2/5
Coppertone Water babies sunblock - scanned price - 12.99 - reg price 11.99.

I hit 3 stores in the area and got 3 of the above for free.

This thread is totally a YMMV.

The cereal bar were the cinnanom ones. Even the regular price tag was 3.69 is the Tulsa stores. So dont know where the 3.99 came from.

I have observed that when an item, say a can of green beans, is on sale, and I buy several of them (within the limit for the sale), the last one rung up is at the regular price. This has happened several times to me for various products and I get my money back for that last item, plus the item for free.

When an item scans incorrectly I mention that it is free to the cashier...they don't all know this. I recall one cashier sneering at me and saying "I'll have to call the manager for this, I can't take YOUR WORD for it."

Very YMMV but I do get free items all the time. Most people don't watch & get cheated. TV news shows the heavy scan 'mistakes' every year (~98% against us as opposed to a lower price). I often return & they (IMHO intentionally) didn't fix & I get more free. Even with the free policy (sometimes government mandated after complaints) they still profit b/c uncaught error profit exceeds what they hand out free.

It takes days, if ever, for my local Albertsons to fix price mistakes. How could you not think something shady is going on, when you alert them to a pricing mistake on the first day of a sale and the price is still coming up wrong 2 or 3 days later.

The idea behind this thread is to share what items people are getting for free due to Albertson's Price Guarantee Policy.

Please share the items you find being incorrectly scanned along with the location/area.

I got Gain detergent,OEP refried beans and the 11.XX oz bag of M&Ms free this weekend. I think they were all sale items and nobody removed the yellow tag. Funny thing is this time they didn't deduct the coupons as they have before. Also, the lady at customer service said I would get this item free because of the "stupid" price scan policy. I thought it was rude of her to say it to me.

I'm less 'worldly' than I thought. Don't think I've ever eaten parsnips. Maybe I've never seen them ? Or maybe I pass 'em without noticing.

I know it's sometimes a 'silly' question, but do they taste 'similar' to something else?

Man, no one ever offered me anything free when I caught the price scan mistake. Just recently when they had the 8 hour sale, 20 bottle long neck Bud light was $13.99 instead of advertized $12.99. they just over-rode the price. I wonder if I can take the receipt and go after them?
