Always use the self checkout if you can. This works for me(At BiLo too!). I always look for a teenager when there is no self checkout as well. They always tell me "WOW! I can't beleive you got 18 boxes of hamburger Helper for $4.20!!!"

Thumbs down a response!

I received a response from Harris Teeter customer relations (see below... note, I did take the liberty of accentuating the typos). While awaiting their response, I did manage to shop at another HT store. I used two coupons on b1g1 sale items and nobody said a word.

Thank you for your email. Our policy is, and has always been, that we do not allow a coupon to be used on an item that we are providing to you for free. On BOGOF items, you are only allowed to use once coupon.

We cannot comments on the policies of other retailers; however, we do not have plans to make changes to this policy. We hope this information is helpful. Thanks for your interest in shopping with us.

Sincerely,

Harris Teeter Customer Relations

I hate that policy. The good thing is that if its not a headliner / front page bogo sale you can usually slip it past them... To me if they really wanted to make it stick they should program there computers to keep it from working ... when we had a winn dixie in NC my store would beep on 2 coupons for bogo items.. OF course I decided to always give them my store card after coupons so the coupons would work without beeping but the point is there system made the coupons beep to indicate "You cant do that" Ironically they didnt have the dreaded policy of 1 coupon for bogo items so it was a YMMV as to what you got told as to way they would not take the 2nd coupon but like i said I just got around that by scanning my card last... Another point is there limit 3 like coupons... I hate that one as well.. however I know that if I go to lowes foods only 4 *like* coupons will double so you can bet I dont put more than 4 of the same in there... but at HT somedays you can use more than 3 some days you cant... its always YMMV...

This is thread from 5 months ago.

I just starting having trouble randomly as well. They wouldn't let me use 2 coupons on a B1G1 free sale. I had a full buggy too. I told the manager that I'm giving coupons for the items I'm purchasing. If they don't want me to purchase the second item (which rings up half price) and use a coupon with it, then take them off. (Therefore they lose the sale.) If I can't use a second coupon on what they call a BOGO sale, then I'll have to start doing all my shopping at Lowes Foods since the deals will be better because they allow coupons. I'm surely not going to pay for an item, and then not have them take the coupon.

They did remove the "free" items, and I made another trip into the store to buy the items they removed. They weren't happy with me, but I wasn't happy having them trying to force me into BUYING the free items. They can't compete with my other grocery store if they don't take both coupons.

On another note, the store I go to here in Greensboro has programmed their register so it won't give overages. If an item is $1.45 and the coupon is for 75 cents off....the coupon shows up on the receipt as -.75 and -.70. It is automatically adjusting the doubled coupon so it doesn't deduct more than the product is worth. Now THAT I totally understand and is how it should be. (This was just a change that happened between last week and this week.)

None of the HTs in Greensboro I go to have ever given overage on an item that was not on sale and was less than the doubled amount of the coupon. The only way I ever get overage is if the sale price is less than the doubled amount of the coupon. For example an 1.45 item on sale for 1.00. My .75 coupon will take .75 off and then another .70 giving me an overage of .50. This worked for me last Friday.
Do you mean they changed this?

You are right. I just pulled my receipt out from 1/29. They didn't give the overage on an item not on sale, but they did give the overage on the items that were on sale.

I thought we always got an overage before, but I guess I never looked close enough before. Thanks for pointing that out!
