Question Recycling paper or burning it?

Which do you think is better for the environment, recycling the waste paper like junk mail etc or burning it in my wood stove? The wood stove is nice for things like frozen food boxes or paper towels that can't be recycled anyway but I was just curious what others thought.
My thinking is that if I burn it then I'm using it for fuel and it's not going in the landfill. But then the smoke could be an issue but if I'm having a fire anyway instead of turning my furnace on then would it matter? Your thoughts???

Thanks,
Kris
