Default Tips for moving/packing

I'm looking for any tips on moving-we're finally moving to a better neighborhood. I got free boxes from work-but how about the paper for putting around glasses and dishes and the like? We'll move anything we can fir into the back of our SUVs so the movers will just move the heavy stuff. The realtor will coordinate the utliities transfer. We will rent a shampooer for the carpet as soon as we get the keys, move the kitchen-noncarpetted-basement-garage stuff while the carpet is drying. DSL, directv, etc is on my list along with the mail.
What else?
We will recycle anything we use for someone else and/or the recycling center.

I would recommend using felt instead of paper. You can keep the felt forever and it actually keeps it safer. I make squares the size of the plates and just intercalate a plate and a square.
On a completely different note, if you are away from your original neighborhood, you will need to find new babysitters and the like.

I like using towels and other linens for wrapping items. You don't have to buy them (since you already have them), and you probably won't have to wash dishes after you wrap them (vs when using newspaper). It also makes the boxes lighter, since you maybe won't be putting as many items in the boxes.

Hello,

For safe shifting use storage pods to pack and move the stuff, you can get it from any packers and movers or ask your friends and relatives for that.
